The following is the California reportability standards digest for driver convictions.

ACCIDENTS

Accidents stay on your driving record for 3 years from the accident date, unless you were found at fault in a fatality crash, in which case it's 4 years from the accident date.

CONVICTIONS FOR TRAFFIC OFFENSES

Convictions for traffic citations will be reported for 3 years from the violation date. More serious ones stay on longer....see table below.

TRAFFIC SCHOOL DISMISSAL

First attendance resulting in DISMISSAL in 18 months is masked from public view. 2nd DISMISSAL is shown on public record.

D.M.V. ACTION BECAUSE OF D.U.I.

Any administrative action will stay on your record for one year from the proof of termination date (SR-22...continuous proof of insurance form).

D.M.V. ACTION BECAUSE NO SR-1 (PROOF OF INSURANCE) WAS FILED

One year from termination date of SR-22.

NEGLIGENT DRIVER/PROVISIONAL LICENSING POINTS

These stay on your record for 3 years from your violation date unless an SR-22 was involved.

FTA'S (FAILURE TO APPEAR) & FTP'S (FAILURE TO PAY)

These stay on your record for 5 years from your violation date.

    Any "TWO POINT" driving offense will stay on a commercial vehicle operator's record for 55 years if the violation occurred while driving a commercial vehicle.

    10 years if while driving a non -commercial vehicle.
